Like many people today, I feel the Republican and Democratic parties in the United States have disenfranchised the voices of Liberty. Throughout the last century, these parties have marketed government solutions as the only reasonable approach to social and economic issues we’ve faced. As a result, they have consistently taken more from us as individuals and expanded the power of US and state governments.
But government solutions to problems are like patches to potholes on Wade Avenue in Raleigh: it’s a temporary fix that works for a short time, but the only real, lasting solution is to go below the surface, repair the damage underneath, and then repave the system.
When I looked for a new political direction in 2005, I found the Libertarian Party, and I knew that I had been a libertarian for many years. The Libertarian Party understands that government intervention is at the heart of many of our issues, and that it’s more liberty, not more intervention, that offers a real long-term solution.
Let’s have the courage to work at the heart of the issues in North Carolina. Let’s take back our liberty so we have more choice for ourselves and our families.
